Bioware is making an MMO

They're making Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic into an MMO, if Blizzard is planning on World of Starcraft, they may have some competition.

As much as i would love to see lucas stop coasting off the successes of his first three movies and actually continue the damn starwars saga already, KOTOR is the perfect time frame for an MMO.

I cant wait. Im leaving Warhammer for this when it comes out.

You say that now, but remember, during the higher levels of KOTOR, it only worked because of the stop-time. If they come out with an MMO, they'll need to change a lot of the game mechanic in KOTOR to make it work. And, I won't lie, having guns in an MMO, although totally awesome, probably wouldn't work in typical MMO mechanics out right now. They'd have to revolutionize the genre.

they should just make it work more like planetside with squad control and special abilities. Something like the special ability panel From Mass Effect or a hotbar. it could work easily.

Guns are fine, but i get the feeling that you will only get to be a Jedi or a sith. Thats the point of the game. jedi vs sith. I don't think it would be like the other starwars mmo where being a jedi was the goal. So you might not have a ton of soldier like classes.

You would probably have like four or five different types of jedi though like in KOTOR. It will be sweet if they do it right. I would also like to see a PVP slant on this game, which should be good.

There should be class specialisations instead of different types. But they should still have some soldier classes in the game. Cause when you look at it the newer starwars movies all have giant wars in them. that would be so cool to replicate in an MMO. there gonna need people to command those armies... i dont think the jedi will suffice (NO offence)

This too has caught my eye, but knowing MMO development cycles I won't have to really worry about it until 2011 or so. Especially considering Bioware has a fair deal on it's plate these days, what with Dragon Age, Mass Effect 2, that Sonic Rpg, and now this.

While I do think a KOTOR MMO would be awesome (that's what I'm assuming it'll be based on anyways), I was kinda hoping for a 'real' game to end off the trilogy, as it'll be hard to really do it justice in the limited story you can convey in the MMO medium. Of course, they could still make a Kotor 3 alongside this, and use one to build up sales for the other, so I shouldn't be so down.

Dunno about you guys but Blizzard is releasing Diablo 3, thats gotta be the biggest competition they're releasing, i mean i've played Diablo2 for a very long period of time and loved it like hell, and if Diablo 3 is the new combination of WoW and Diablo 2 with new pvp system and such, then i'd be looking forward to Diablo 3 more than KOTOR, although i loved the star wars games on xbox a lot too so it would be a tough decision to make hmmm
