| New thread so as not to get off topic. It's a poll because... well because it can me. - Vitalious wrote:
Netflix is for losers. Torrents are ftw.(or so ive heard) I've always wondered how Netflix survived and how more mailmen are stealing the cd's. Its a GIANT RED ENVELOPE that says Netflix, im pretty sure everyone knows what it is! Yeah, but those mailmen don't know if they're going to ending up with something like... 13 going on 30 or 27 Dresses or some other such BLUEBERRY. Netflix comes in pretty much a day after I send the other one in, has a nice easy list and organization of movies and the order I receive them in. They have a HUGE selection that I don't have to go searching through to find what I want, all the while hoping there's no viruses when they send me the disc. Plus they have synopsis, reviews you can read, recommendations based on other movies you liked, a rating system, and a friends network so that your friends can tell you which BLUEBERRY movies you should avoid. As for Netflix vs. Blockbuster... It's nice you can turn your videos in at the store (of course, again, you have to go to the store), but Blockbuster selection is complete garbage (esp in store) and I'm someone who really likes docs and indy movies, so they're pretty much a non option.

| Block Busters/Any DVD/Clone DVD = FTMFW
I used Netflix years ago. They pissed me off when I was receiving only the Director's Cut version of a movie. In other words they would get in a shipment of movies then split the package sending the originals to people and the directors cut to others. Screw that. Not sure if that still happens.

| Oh no, Netflix->DVDDecrypter or DVDFab->x264 is unbeatable.
I use Netflix for most SD content (movies & TV series), and download HD content via torrent & newsgroups.
BTW viruses in any video or audio is basically impossible, you'd have to be really stupid to get a virus from downloading video or audio.

| How is Netflix for losers? Honestly, I do Netflix for watching popular shows and movies and go to torrents for the lesser known selections and anime. | |

| They're new... I've seen those things pop up at Wal-Mart. Was wondering if they were related to Netflix or competition. | |

| Hubby and I have the In-Store Unlimited rentals package with 2 movies out at a time at our local Blockbuster. So basically we can take 2 movies out bring them home watch and or burn, return get new ones as many times as we want. It's like $29 .99 a month and you don't get late fees with the program.
We had the online one before but sometimes it took forever for a movie to become available so we switched to in-store.

| Yeah i share a netflix with a friend of mine who is on a different shift. I really like how you can stream movies while waiting for the new ones to come in. I liked blockbuster when i lived with my parents though, kind of cool to go rent a movie and get a pizza.
And they changed Netflix to where you can get the directors cut or the normal version.

| I use a third party. My uncle. It's kind of ridicuous actually. He uses Netflix, gets tons of movies, watches them, and then burns 'em and gives them to me. He has no discretion in what he picks so I get a huge mixed bag of really awesome stuff and then really cheesy crap for kids and other wussy garbage. I can't really complain cuz it's free; and actually, opening a box full of burned DVDs and seeing "No Country for Old Men" next to "Duma" is pretty funny. | |

| I could never justify to myself paying the money for netflix or any other per month since I don't rent movies very often. When I do rent them I try to burn them so I have my own little library at home. I just consider it an offsite backup for the local Blockbuster | |

| Slayde and I are still renting at blockbuster, but we only get a movie maybe once every few months. Part of it might be due to the fact that when we go we never really see much we want to watch. We are lazy though and only look at the new release wall. We normally go to look for games that we don't really want to buy, but would like to play. Of course their selection for that stinks too.
How much is netflix per month anyhow? Anyone tried using a service like gamefly yet?
