I have very much enjoyed playing in this guild since joining. I have found it to be very well organized. If possible would it be a possibility to post the responsibilities of a guild officer so that I and others can be well informed of the responsibilities before submitting an application? Or if this info is available elsewhere on the site, please provide a link to such a descripion.

I think something can be worked up. Though applying for an officer position, right now, is not something we have plans to ever do.

But having a list of what officers are expected to do and what is expected of them is something I think can be arranged. It may not happen for a little while, though, as things are moving into fast forward the closer we get to live launch.

It seems like there are many qualified leaders on this guild. So, I'm sure I won't be needed. However, as it stands i have been a guild officer/raid leader in MMO guilds for almost 6 years. I would like to not be stressed out and just enjoy the game. But, if I'm needed I would be willing to step up.

Typically people that are officer material end up doing officer things by nature. We see and recognize this and if we feel that the person can handle it AND we have a place open, we offer the privileges of officer rank to go along with what they're already doing anyway.

Yea but I would hate to get some sort of foot fungus on my hands, if I wanna go for the feet are I could just shatter their shins or slice their Achilles Tendon, would be just as if not more effective with no foot fungus/nasty feet problems.

I have been an officer in every guild that I was involved in... however, I would prefer not to be an officer due to the fact that I am starting up a business which I need to commit more time to (rofl... like thats gonna happen when we go live). Anyhow, when I am on, I am more than willing to help with anything that will make this guild stronger.

But back on the topic of officers they usually are distinguished by their class choice. I find that in 90% of all HC raiding guilds I've ever been in the GM was always the MT. This is easy to fathom however as the mentality of someone who plays a MT would be similar to that of a person nesscary to lead a guild. This also could stem from the fact that as a MT(was old wow guilds OT back in MC BWL days) you have to know just about every aspect of the fight and therefor must be a more responsible individual to be successful in a raid as well as putting you in better leadership advancement positions.

I'll concede that usually this is true. However, for my old raiding guild: I led the raids as a healer. Simply because OH MY GOD OUR TANKS WERE FREAKING WORTHLESS. NO MAIN TANK SHOULD EVER NEED TO ASK DPS TO DPS LESS.


Beyond that, usually true however, keep in mind that's typical for PvE.

RvR/PvP is exactly like PvE. On acid. Meatshield may not be the best person to lead a Warband: Sorc or Magus, or possibly Boss spec Black Orc or Magic spec Chosen. Essentially anyone who can focus on everyone, and not just a specific job. Magus or Chosen may be best suited.

an officer should understand all the classes and make best use of them. No matter what class they play. I agree with Nez there. but more then that its to understand the strengths and weaknesses of each class and where they can do the most good.

From experience in other situations though. from a single band point of view. You can only go as fast as the healer. I notice a lot of hard core tanks don't even stop to think about the healer at all. They just want to go as fast as possible. Its mainly PvE you have to worry about that though. even so, if your healer can't heal and your casters can't cast. You can get into trouble fast.

So a lot comes from time and experience. Which is something that is hard to have at this point. I am sure officers will emerge in time. Kade and Squib do a good job. Some leaders don't even realize that they have set themselves apart from the rest. But they will get noticed for it. No matter anyones past experiences with other MMO's. It doesn't mean much at this point. All that will matter is how we play WAR and what happens there.

I noticed that i didn't get the point across I was trying too. So editing to make it reflect my thoughts. I was trying to stress the basics and core needs: Teamwork, Communication, Understanding of people/classes/needs. Every situation is different, but some things do remain constant. Its also being able to deal with issues that come up. Like tanks who don't pay attention ie. running out of heal range every five seconds, healers who don't give warnings or announce what their doing when needed. To many situations can arise while fighting. The leader has to pull everyone together. Keep them focused on the goal. I think the main goal is to keep things running as smoothly as possible.

i have had much experience of guilds, clans... sense 1997. or was it 1998? anyways.... i hate alot of the drama but u already posted there wont be any so..... im willing BUT obviously my schedule counteracts ur guys stuff... obviously there would have to be a morning group or something for that to ever happen lol....

On the subject however of the OP I would be willing to be an officer

Something I have always thought I was decent at is leading people in games.

I would be interested in officership, given I prove myself in mortal kombat.

or if u need a dedicated officer on in the mornings im ur guy.... im a very fair guy.... i rather talk things threw than become harsh... so if u need someone on in the mornings when most officers r sleeping or working i'm ur man. plus i can always report in if something happens around 8pm before i get ready for work so no biggies on communication problems
